Kristy Shen and her husband Bryce Leung have written a book called “Quit Like A Millionaire” which in my opinion is a Masterclass in career choices and how to select a career path which will, not only lead to a Bachelors degree, but will leave you in a position to repay your student loan debt within the first year of qualifying.

THIS BOOK DOESN’T SIMPLY APPLY TO TEENAGERS ABOUT TO LEAVE SCHOOL BUT EVERYONE WHO IS CONSIDERING A CAREER CHANGE.

Kristy Shen is from a family of Chinese Immigrants to Canada.  She was born into abject poverty in China where her family struggled daily to obtain food and lived in squalor.

Kristy’s father was fortunate to be able to sit an exam which enabled him to follow an academic route leading eventually to an opportunity to study in Canada.  It took him years to be able to send for his wife and family to join him in Canada and once there, they lived in a two room apartment with very little income as there language skills were limited but Kristy went to school and studied diligently in order to learn the language and keep up with her classmates.

Unlike the stereotypical Asian academic whizz-kid, Kristy could only achieve average grades in her studies, despite having to work twice as hard to maintain those “B” grades. Her work ethic was driven by the knowledge that “Failure was not an option”.  Without a very good education, she had no fall back financial plan.
