TITS, BOOBIES AND LOONS

by Stu Royall (Author) and Libby Morris (Illustrator)

THIS BOOK WOULD BE A GREAT FUN IDEA FOR THE BIRD-LOVER IN YOUR LIFE!

YOU THOUGHT YOU HATED YOUR NAME!  From the monotonous lark to the rough-faced shag, these poor birds have us all asking: ARE ORNITHOLOGISTS OK?

Author, Stuart Royall is a writer, creative director, occasional filmmaker and bird influencer.  His concern for the unfortunately-named drab seedeater prompted him to write Tits, Boobies and Loons, a book in defence of all the maligned birds out there.

Some people will literally name all the birds instead of going to therapy, and this book exposes all the weird and wonderful monikers these poor feathered creatures have been tarred with.  From the go-away-bird and the common loon to the sad flycatcher and the sombre tit, we seriously have to wonder why such disturbed ornithologists even went into this line of work.

Tits, Boobies and Loons is for all fans of birds, language and rude words. Or anyone who secretly considers themselves a bit of a red-rumped bush tyrant.

It is a hilarious read with exquisite illustrations by the wildlife illustrator and ecologist Libby Morris.  Her  work is currently sold in galleries, shops and nature reserves all over the UK including the Turner Gallery, the Wildlife Trusts and the RSPB.

‘Tits, Boobies and Loons’ is as wonderful as it sounds – a beautifully crafted book bringing to life the truly epic/ disturbing names that have been given to the world’s bird population.  While the Lovely Fairy Wren has an easy ride, most featured birds are, like the Satanic Nightjar, cursed with names that few creatures deserve.
